Federal School of Statistics Ibadan was established in 1948 as a training unit for refresher courses under the then Federal Office of Statistics (which was a merger of FOS and National Data Bank). With a vision to become Nigeria's premier institution for statistical education, we have consistently evolved to meet the changing demands of the modern data-driven world.

In 1961, our training activities expanded significantly to serve other ministries and parastatals, marking a pivotal milestone in our growth and establishing our influence in Nigeria's statistical education landscape. This expansion reflected our commitment to comprehensive professional development in the field of statistics.

The institution achieved a major breakthrough when it graduated to a fully-fledged school in 1971, awarding middle-level statistical officer certificates for a comprehensive two-year programme in Statistics. This transformation reinforced our position as a leading institution in statistical education.

Our commitment to innovation and academic excellence led to the introduction of Computer Science and Business Administration & Management programmes in 2013/2014, followed by the establishment of the Accountancy department for National Diploma in 2018/2019. These additions reflected our response to evolving industry needs and technological advancement.

Today, we proudly offer both ND and HND programmes across our six dynamic departments: Statistics, Computer Science, Business Administration & Management, Accountancy, Artificial Intelligence, and Networking & Cloud Computing. Our comprehensive curriculum and experienced faculty prepare students for leadership roles in their respective fields, ensuring they are well-equipped for the challenges of the modern professional landscape.
